Right now so many are feeling waves of grief… anger… disbelief… as more information continues to surface about the JE files and the systems of power that have enabled harm for so long.

One of the women in our Singing For Your Wild Soul sound healing certification shared that she has been asked to hold space for a group of women who are processing these feelings together. She told me how powerful it has been for her to experience sound in her own body through our practices… and she asked a beautiful question:

How do we introduce sound as a way to help women process something this heavy?

It’s such an important question.

Because when something this upsetting moves through the collective, our nervous systems can easily become overwhelmed. And when emotions like grief, rage, and shock don’t have a pathway to move, they often become stuck in the body.

One of the simplest and most ancient pathways for releasing that energy is sound.

Not polished singing or performance.

Just sound.

Here are three gentle ways to begin…

  1. Let the sound move through you

If you’re feeling waves of anger, grief, or shock, find a place where you can be completely private and safe.

This might be in your car while driving somewhere quiet.
At home when you have the house to yourself.
With a trusted therapist or support group.

And then allow the sound to come.

You might sigh, wail, growl, cry, or yell.

Let the emotion take sonic form.

In yogic teachings, the sacral chakra (the center of creativity and sensual life force) is symbolized by a crescent moon. The energy here is not complete until it flows upward.

When that current reaches the throat, the symbol becomes the full blue moon.

Meaning: energy finds completion when it becomes expression.

When we allow sound to move through us, the body can process what the mind alone cannot.

  1. Use your voice as a nervous system anchor

Once the big waves have moved, your voice can also become a daily anchor for calm and safety.

This can be incredibly simple.

Hum three notes to yourself while making tea.

Tone a gentle vowel like ahhh or ooo while breathing slowly.

Hum your favorite song while you wash dishes or fold laundry.

The vibration of your own voice is profoundly regulating to the nervous system. It signals safety to the body in a way that thinking alone cannot.

  1. Speak safety into your body

Finally, bring your voice to conscious affirmation.

Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly.
Or one hand on your forehead and one at the base of your skull.

Then say, out loud:

I am safe.
I create safety.
I claim safety in my body and in my life.

Even if safety hasn’t always been present in the past, we can begin to reclaim it now.

Our voices are not only instruments of expression.
They are instruments of creation.

And in times when the world feels chaotic or unjust, remembering that truth becomes more important than ever.

Your voice matters.

Your sound matters.

And the body knows how to heal when we allow it to speak.

Keep singing, wild soul, for yourself and for the whole.

BlesSINGS and so much love beaming your way.
